Responsibilities and Duties
Promote and adhere to Pacific Homecare Services’ core values – respect, honesty, and kindness. 
 Assist the individuals we serve with all aspects of personal care including:
  •  Physical Needs: assist with tasks as determined by their physical abilities.
  •  Personal hygiene: Brushing/combing hair, brushing teeth, filing of nails, including other basic personal hygiene, and grooming needs.
  • Dressing: Buttoning, zippering, dressing, and undressing, selecting appropriate clothing.
  • Bathing: Washing body or hair.
  • Toileting: Diapering, wiping, and lifting the client on and off the toilet.
  • Ambulation: Moving around and standby assistance.
  • Feeding: Cutting food, spreading food, lifting fork/spoon to mouth.
  • Transferring: Using assisted devices for transferring in/out of bed, in/out of bathtub/shower, and providing standby assistance.
  • Medication: Providing medication reminders, handing the medication container to the client, and opening the medication container. The medication must be administered by the client, or a parent/guardian.
  • Recreational needs: Age and ability-appropriate entertainment and sensory activities.
  • Developmental needs: Age and ability-appropriate activities to develop motor skills, such as sensory activities and play.
  • Social needs: Providing a sense of being cared for, belonging, and acceptance.
  • Behavioral needs: Encouraging age and ability-appropriate behavior and redirecting.
  • Household assistance (Cannot exceed 20% of caregiving time spent with the client): Tasks essential to the health and comfort of the client, such as cleaning up after meals and snacks, changing bed linens, laundering bed linens and clothing used by the client, and tidying areas of the home occupied by the client.
  • Nutritional needs (Cannot exceed 20% of caregiving time spent with the client): Meal/snack planning (including special diets), and preparation of healthy and appropriate foods.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds, remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, and bend or stand as necessary.
